FAQ: LASH EXTENSIONS
WHAT ARE LASH EXTENSIONS?
Lash extensions is the procedure of adhering false lash hairs made of synthetic PBT fibre, directly onto each individual natural eyelash.
DOES GETTING LASH EXTENSIONS HURT?
No! The procedure of getting lash extensions should always be a comfortable experience.
Please note that a very bright light will be placed above your eyes, and they must be closed for the entire duration of the appointment. If you have sensitivities to light, and cannot lay still with your eyes closed for an extended period of time, this may not be for you.
WILL MY LASHES GET DAMAGED?
No! Extensions do not damage your natural lashes if applied correctly. Many of my clients experience better lash growth, due to eliminating the damage from lash curlers, eye rubbing, and lashes being ripped out from striplash wearing.
DO I HAVE TO WAIT 24 HOURS BEFORE GETTING MY LASHES WET?
Contrary to popular belief, you CAN get your lashes wet immediately after getting lash extensions! I always use a facial mister at the end of your appointment which cures the lash adhesive. However, avoid rubbing or pulling on your lashes, this is the #1 reason why lashes fall out prematurely.
WHY ARE MY LASHES FALLING OUT?
Your lifestyle, lash growth cycle, and skin type, all effect the rate at which your lashes shed. Our lashes naturally shed everyday, just like the hairs on our head. Since our eyelash hairs are so tiny, we usually don't notice them falling out. You can expect an average of 5 lashes to shed daily, depending on your natural lash growth cycle. Beacuse of this shedding cycle, you will need to come back in every 2-3 weeks for a lash fill to keep them looking fresh and full!
WHAT SHOULD I WASH MY LASHES WITH?
Cleanse your lashes nightly with a gentle oil-free foaming cleanser such as Killer Beauty Lash Bath, and a soft fluffy brush.
DIRECTIONS: Using one pump of KB Lash Bath on each eye, swirl the cleanser with your brush working in circular motions and downwards along the top and bottom of your lash line. Make sure to really get in between the lashes. This is where most dirt and debris gets trapped. Run the brush under warm water and squeegee down your lashes to rinse away the cleanser. After they're nice and clean, brush your wet lashes so that they dry in the correct position. Dry with cool air if desired.
Don't have a bottle of KB Lash Bath or a KB Cleansing Brush? Pick one up at your next appointment!
HOW CAN I PREVENT MY LASHES FROM FALLING OUT? (AFTERCARE)
As mentioned before, your eyelashes are always shedding and growing everyday. You can't prevent them from falling out, but there are a few things you can do to help slow down the process.
WASH DAILY: Wash your lashes every night before bed with a oil-free cleanser. See section above for directions.
AVOID OILS: Oils actually do not break down the lash adhesive, but they do reduce the surface tension between the natural lash and extension. That means if the extension is starting to lift off the natural lash, oils can get in between and cause it to pop off.
BLOT: If you have oily lids, try blotting them with a tissue throughout the day.
AVOID FRICTION: This means do not rub, pull, tug, or pick at your lashes.
SILKY PILLOW CASES: Sleep on a silk or satin pillow case to reduce friction.
BECOME A BACK SLEEPER: This sleeping position may not come naturally, but it will improve the longevity of your lashes.

CAN I WEAR MAKEUP WITH LASH EXTENSIONS?
Technically yes, but it is not recommended. The oils from your makeup and the process of removing it, can cause your lash extensions to fall out quicker.
If you wear eyeliner, focus on the outer corners, avoiding the lash line and waterline.
MASCARA IS A HARD NO. It will ruin the lash extensions, and reduce the longevity.
If you do wear makeup, make sure to thoroughly remove it by using a cotton bud saturated with oil-free makeup remover, paying attention to the eyelid and waterline, where foundation can often transfer. Do not use a dry cotton bud or pad, as they can snag onto the extension and rip it out. Follow up with an oil-free foaming cleanser and a fluffy brush to wash away any remaining residue. If you don't have these, you can purchase a lash cleansing kit at your next appointment!
WHEN SHOULD I COME IN FOR MY LASH FILL?
Typically clients come in every 2-3 weeks, for their lash fill.
There are 2 fill appointment options: mini fill (1 hour), or regular fill (1.5 hours), choose your time depending on how many lashes you need to have filled. If your lashes are looking a little less full than when you first got them, but no noticeable gaps, a mini fill will most likely be sufficient. If you are starting to see noticeable gaps in your lashes, you will need to book a regular fill appointment.
Please come in for your fill before you lose too many lashes, otherwise we won't have enough time to get them to their fullest. If you have to question whether you should book a full set, you'll probably need to.
*You must come in for your fill within 28 days of your last appointment, otherwise you can book a full set any time.
